Sell tickets or give out free ones
Turn on tickets for your event, add free or paid ticket types, choose who pays the fees and set your refund policy.
Updated
Tickets replace RSVPs on an event. Guests pick tickets on the invite instead of tapping Going, and every ticket holder shows on your guest list. Free tickets need nothing else. Paid tickets need payouts set up first.
Add tickets while you create the event
- On Create, tap Tickets at the top of Event options.
- Turn on Sell tickets, then choose Who pays fees and a Refund policy.
- Under Add a ticket, enter a Name, a Price (CAD) (0 for free) and a Quantity, then tap Add ticket. Each one shows up as a preview of the ticket your guests will get, with your event's name, date and cover. Tap the bin on a ticket to remove it. Add as many types as you need, then tap Done.
- Tap Publish event. The invite opens with your tickets on sale. The poster shows a chip like From $20.00.
Turn on tickets for an event you already published
- Open the event's Edit page. Only the event owner sees the Tickets row at the top of Event options. You can also reach it with the Tickets button on the Guests page.
- Tap Tickets. The Tickets page opens.
- Turn on Sell tickets.
- Under Who pays fees, choose Buyers (you get the full ticket price and buyers pay the fees on top) or You (buyers pay the ticket price and the fees come out of it). See fees.
- Under Refund policy, choose No refunds, Refunds up to 7 days before the event, Refunds up to 24 hours before the event or Refunds until the event starts. Buyers see it before they pay.
Add a ticket type
- Under Ticket types, tap Add ticket.
- Enter a Name (like General admission) and, if you like, a Description (optional).
- Set Price (CAD). Enter 0 for a free ticket. For a paid ticket, the dialog shows what you get per ticket after fees.
- Set Quantity, the number of tickets of this type, and Most per order, the most one buyer can take at once.
- Optionally set Sales start (optional) and Sales end (optional) to open and close sales at a set time. Both are in the event's time zone, shown under them.
- Tap Add ticket (or Save ticket when editing). The ticket shows on the invite straight away. If something can't be saved, the dialog stays open with everything you typed.
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Ticket types per event | Up to 10 |
| Paid ticket price | $2.00 to $500.00, in Canadian dollars |
| Quantity per type | Up to 100,000 |
| Most per order | 1 to 20 per ticket type, and 20 tickets per order in total |
| Sales end | No later than the event ends (or starts, if it has no end time). With no sales end, sales close at that same time. |
Manage ticket types
- Each row shows the price, how many sold, and how many are in someone's checkout right now.
- Tap the pencil icon to edit a ticket. After the first sale the price is locked, and the quantity can't go below what's sold or held.
- Tap the pause icon to stop sales for that ticket (guests see Not on sale). Tap the play icon to resume.
- Tap the trash icon to remove a ticket. It only shows for tickets with no sales; pause a ticket that has sold instead.
What changes when tickets are on
- The ticket picker takes the place of the RSVP buttons on the invite. A ticket is the guest's RSVP: getting one marks them Going.
- Require approval and Capacity disappear from Event options. Your ticket quantities are the capacity, and buyers are never held for approval.
- Guests don't add plus-ones or answer RSVP questions. A guest who takes several tickets shows as Going with a plus-one for each extra ticket.
- Once any ticket has sold, Sell tickets and Who pays fees are locked. Refund the orders first to turn tickets off.
See your sales
The top of the Tickets page shows Tickets sold, Ticket sales and Your earnings (after refunds). Every order is listed under Orders, newest first, where you can refund tickets.
Check guests in
Once tickets are on, the Tickets page has a Check in button. It opens the door screen, where you scan each guest's QR code or admit them by name. See check guests in at the door.
Common questions
Why does my paid ticket say Not on sale yet?
Paid tickets go on sale once your payouts are ready. Open Settings and choose Connect with Stripe, then finish Stripe's steps.
Can I give out free tickets without Stripe?
Yes. Free tickets don't need payouts. Set the price to 0.
Can I turn tickets on while creating the event?
Not yet. Publish first, then open Edit and tap Tickets.
