Refunds and cancellations
Refund single tickets or whole orders, what buyers get back, and what happens to paid tickets when an event is cancelled.
Updated
Refunds are issued by the event owner. Guests ask the host, and the host refunds from the event's Tickets page. The host's refund policy is shown to buyers before they pay; hosts are expected to honour it.
Refund tickets
- Open your event's Edit page and tap Tickets, or tap Tickets on the Guests page.
- Under Orders, find the buyer and tap Refund.
- In Refund tickets, every ticket in the order is ticked. Untick any you want to keep.
- Tap Refund order for the whole order, or Refund with the number of tickets for some of them.
| Situation | What the buyer gets back |
|---|---|
| Host refunds a paid ticket | The ticket price. The beMYN service fee and card processing are not refunded. The refund comes out of the host's payout. |
| Host refunds a free ticket | The ticket is cancelled and the spot opens up again. |
| Host cancels the event | Everything they paid, fees included, automatically. |
| Tickets sold out while they were paying | Everything they paid, fees included, automatically. |
Refunded tickets are no longer valid and the guest's headcount goes down. On the buyer's My tickets they're stamped Refunded, and scanning one at the door shows Not valid. Before the event starts, refunded tickets go back on sale.
Cancel an event with paid tickets
- On Edit, open More options and tap Cancel event.
- The dialog tells you how many paid orders will be refunded in full, fees included. This can't be undone.
- Type CANCEL and tap Cancel event. Every paid order is refunded and each buyer is emailed.
When the money arrives
Buyers get an email for every refund. Refunds reach their card in 5 to 10 business days, depending on their bank. The order shows Part refunded or Refunded on the host's orders and on the buyer's invoice, which also lists the Refunded amount.
Chargebacks
If a buyer disputes a payment with their bank, the order shows Disputed, its tickets stop being valid (they're stamped Void), and the disputed amount is taken back from the host's share. If the dispute is decided for the host, the money and the tickets come back.
Common questions
Can buyers refund themselves?
No. Buyers ask the host, and the host refunds from the Tickets page.
Can co-hosts issue refunds?
No. Co-hosts who manage guests can see orders, but only the event owner can refund.
Why wasn't the service fee refunded?
Fees are only refunded when the event is cancelled or the tickets sold out during payment. A host refund returns the ticket price.
