Check guests in at the door

Scan each guest's QR ticket with your phone, admit people by name, and undo a check-in made by mistake.

Updated

Every ticket has a QR code. At the door you scan it with your phone and beMYN tells you straight away whether to let the guest in. Each ticket admits once.

Who can check guests in

The event owner, and co-hosts with the Check in guests permission. See co-hosts.

Scan tickets

  1. Open your event and tap the scan icon (Check in guests) on the poster, or on the right edge of the screen on a phone. You can also tap Check in on the event's Tickets page. The Check in page opens.
  2. Tap Start scanning. The first time, your browser asks to use the camera. Allow it.
  3. Point the camera at the guest's QR code, inside the square on screen. It can be on their phone, in their phone's wallet, a screenshot or a printout.
  4. Read the answer that appears under the camera, then scan the next guest. Tap Stop to turn the camera off.
AnswerWhat to do
Admitted (green)Let them in. It shows the guest's name and ticket type.
Already checked in (amber)This ticket was scanned before. It shows the name and the time it was checked in, with a Check ID reminder. Check the person's ID before letting them in.
Not valid (red)Don't admit. The reason shows under it: the ticket was refunded, it's void, it's for another event (with that event's name), or it isn't a beMYN ticket.

Admit someone by name

Below the camera, Guests lists everyone holding a valid ticket, by name, with a count like 12 of 40 checked in. Use this when a guest's phone is dead or the camera won't start.

  1. Type in Search by name or ticket to find the guest.
  2. Tap Admit next to their name. You see the same green, amber or red answer as a scan.
  3. Guests who are in show a green tick and the time they came in.

Undo a check-in

If you admitted the wrong ticket, find it in Guests and tap Undo. The ticket is valid again and can be scanned or admitted later.

Scanning with the phone's own camera

A ticket's QR code is a link, so any phone camera can read it.

  • If you're signed in and can check guests in for that event, it opens a page with the guest's name, ticket type and an Admit button. It also has Open the scanner, which takes you to the Check in page.
  • If the ticket was already scanned, or is no longer valid, that page says so instead of showing Admit.
  • If the person scanning holds the ticket, it opens My tickets. If you are a host and not signed in, tap Host? Sign in to check in first.
  • If the code isn't a beMYN ticket, the page says This isn't a valid ticket.
  • Anyone else sees only that it's a beMYN ticket for the event, with a View the event button, and nothing about the guest.

Common questions

Can a guest get in twice with a screenshot?

No. Each code admits once. A second scan of the same ticket shows Already checked in.

Which time zone are check-in times in?

The event's time zone, with its name, so every co-host sees the same times wherever their phone is set.

Can my co-hosts check people in on their own phones?

Yes, if they have the Check in guests permission. Several people can scan at the same time, and a ticket still admits only once.

My co-host can't open the Tickets page. How do they reach Check in?

They don't need it. Anyone with the Check in guests permission sees the scan icon on the event's poster (on a phone, on the right edge of the screen) and can tap it to open the scanner.

Do refunded tickets show in the Guests list?

No. The list shows only tickets that are valid or already checked in.
