Sending event updates by text and email without a group chat pile-up
How host updates work on beMYN: who gets them, when they go by text, and how to write one people read.

Group chats are great until the plan changes and your update gets buried under forty memes. Updates on beMYN are our answer to that: one message, posted on the event, that reaches the people who are actually coming.
Who gets an update
When you post an update on your event page, everyone who said Going or Maybe gets it by email. Guests who ticked "Text me updates about this event" and left a mobile number get it as a text too. People who said Can't go don't get pinged, which they appreciate.
Texts are opt-in
We only text guests who asked for it on the RSVP form, and every text says how to stop (reply STOP). If your guests would rather not share a number, they still get email and can check the event page any time.
Polls count as updates
If you need a decision, post a poll instead. Guests pick an option, can change their vote until you close it, and see the results once they've voted. It goes out the same way an update does.
Writing one people read
- Lead with what changed: "New start time: 8pm."
- One topic per update. Parking and the playlist are two different messages.
- Three a week is plenty. More than that and people start skimming.
